Dr. Steven Epstein began working at Animal Medical Center as a technician assistant when he was 16 years old, and worked in various other positions before leaving for college. He double majored in biology and animal science at Clemson University and then graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. 

Dr. Epstein returned to Animal Medical Center in 2012 as a veterinarian, became a practice partner in 2019, and has been the hospital director since 2021. Dr. Epstein grew up in Mount Pleasant and has always been passionate about veterinary medicine. At the age of 9, he started a pet sitting service that eventually grew to servicing almost 200 clients! 

Dr. Epstein now lives in Awendaw with his wife, Kristin; their four children: Briggs, Keller Grace, Brady, and Klara Mills; their dogs: Kramer and Raya; and their cats: Josie and Henry.
